MTA accident under investigation after collision in Queens

On Behalf of | Aug 16, 2013 | Personal Injury

When you picture a head-on collision with a bus, you likely instantly think of a devastating scene with multiple life-threatening injuries. Luckily, this is not always the case. Some New York City bus accidents yield less severe injuries, much like the accident that recently occurred involving an MTA bus.

According to reports, an unidentified number of individuals walked away from the accident with only minor injuries. Though the incident is under investigation, it has been said that a box truck and the MTA bus hit head on while driving in Queens. It is unclear what occurred to cause the drivers to collide.

Seemingly minor injuries can often turn into debilitating bodily injury later on. When people are involved in an accident, the adrenaline that rushes through them has been known to keep them from identifying soft tissue injuries that may be present. That is, until they rest from the ordeal and encounter excessive pain later on. For some, multiple injections, chiropractic visits and trips to the doctor are needed in order to restore proper health and mobility. The subsequent medical bills can quickly add up and cause unneeded financial stress.

Furthermore, bus accidents are known to cause severe property damage to vehicles even when injuries are not present. As such, the victim of the collision may be out of work while the car is being repaired. This is not only a hassle, but it can often result in further monetary strain. If you are a victim of an MTA bus accident, speaking with an attorney might help you understand ways to possibly seek compensation for your losses.
